The City Times’ sister publication, the Kempton Express, reported the 28-year-old man is believed to have been approached at his place of employment by four men.
“It is alleged that as the 28-year-old man alighted from his white BMW, he was accosted by about four men,” said Capt Jethro Mtshali, Kempton police’s spokesperson.
They forced the victim onto the ground and a struggle ensued, which resulted in one of the robbers firing a shot, wounding the man in his lower back.
The man’s car was taken and was later recovered in the Alexandra township.
A case of hijacking and attempted murder has been opened.
