Cooking up a storm

Thousands of mouths will be fed at the end of Ramadan, through the efforts of the Bawa's Tollie organisation's feeding scheme.

For the past 41 years, the organisation has cooked Haleem (soup) for the community of Actonville and beyond in the Muslim fasting month.

On Sunday, 40 pots of mutton and chicken soup were being prepared for the community at the Bazme-Adab Hall, in Actonville.

Bawa’s Tollie prepares the ingredients for the soup on Saturday, which is handed out free on Sunday, throughout the month of Ramadan.

The organisation was formed by Abdul Shaik, who will now hand over the reins to Fatima Bham and Anwar Ally.

The organisation thanked all the volunteers and sponsors for the support they have received over the years.
