Daveyton’s Aerothon chases away winter flab

With winter comes comfort food, with that comes winter flab, but, thanks to Aerothon, an aerobics marathon that takes place in and around Daveyton, this will no longer be a problem.

The aerobics take place each consecutive fortnight at a different venue around Daveyton.

What sets the fitness routine apart is that it happens in the vicinity of local pubs, allowing residents to use these spaces for more than one purpose.

The streets where people were drinking and partying are soon transformed into a space where people are doing aerobics routines.

The idea came from two local fitness instructors, Crosby (Mahlatse) Machate and Sibusiso (Chicken) Zwane, who help to keep Daveyton residents fit by offering two free aerobics classes daily at the Sinaba Stadium.

The first Aerothon took place at Pule’s Pub & Grill, in April, and has been followed by more Aerothons at various locations around the township. The events have seen an overwhelming response from fitness enthusiasts of all ages and fitness levels.

There is no registration fee involved and sessions start at 7am.

Further details can obtained from Machate on 083 533 2457, or Zwane on 073 552 2676.
