Affected by no water or weak water pressure?

There have been reports from several Northmead Extension Four residents that their homes are without water.

Leilie Street resident Glen Orritt said he has had a sporadic water supply at his home since Sunday.

The house is without water during the day, but the supply comes back on at night.

An official in the water department, who could not be named, said one of the two diesel motors which pump water to the Northmead reservoir during power outages, is broken.

He explained that this results in poor water pressure during load shedding, as there is only one pump to replenish the reservoir.

The Northmead reservoir supplies Farrarmere, Northmead, Brentwood Park and Goedeburg.

Ward 27’s Clr Gerrie Kriek said he is aware that some Northmead residents have experienced weak water pressure, but denied knowledge of people who are completely without water.

The City Times is awaiting comment from Ekurhuleni.
