Hijacking and rape suspects arrested

Fake R200 notes to the value of R17 000 and shotgun ammunition are some of the items found during the arrest of two men, in Daveyton, on Monday (May 4).

The two, aged between 27 and 32, were arrested in connection with incidents of hijacking and rape, committed during April.

“Daveyton SAPS members and public policing members received a tip-off regarding the whereabouts of the suspects and proceeded to an RDP house in Chris Hani, in Daveyton,” said Nomsa Sekele, Benoni SAPS spokesperson.

“The suspects were immediately arrested and they informed officers of the places where they store some of their goods.”

Police also searched a house in Minanawe, in Daveyton, where they confiscated a silver television set.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Daveyton Magistrates Court soon.
