Three male suspects, armed with firearms, entered the house and forced the women to show them to the safe.
After the women had opened the safe, the robbers took the firearm within and tied the women up.
The robbers then proceeded to search the house and stole jewellery, a TV, laptops and handbags.
“No shots were fired and no-one was injured during the incident,” said Lieut Nomsa Sekele, Benoni SAPS spokesperson.
“The victims described the men as aged between 20 and 30 years.”
The suspects are still at large and authorities are investigating the matter further.
At the time of going to press, SAPS was not yet authorised to release further information concerning the victims.
