While on patrol, the members spotted two men trying to load the tyres onto a vehicle.
When they approached the suspects, the men abandoned their vehicle and ran away.
“SAPS gave chase and managed to recover the tyres and rims, which were stolen from a property on Eva Road,” said Tryna Maritz, Crystal Park SAPS communications officer.
A 39-year-old man was arrested and detained at Crystal Park SAPS.
He was charged with being in possession of stolen property.
He will appear at the Benoni Magistrates Court today, April 20.
The other suspect was not found and their vehicle was confiscated.
The owner of the tyres and rims thanked SAPS members for their excellent work.
