The accused appeared in the court for shooting dead a 14-year-old girl and wounding another man, in Kingsway, on April 3.
“The members proceeded to the scene where, upon arrival, they found a 14-year-old girl, who was identified as Dineo Mpeke, lying dead in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound to the upper body,” said Benoni SAPS spokesperson Lieut Nomsa Sekele.
She added that the girl was hit by a stray bullet while walking in the road, near the tavern where the shooter and male victim had an altercation.
The girl was certified dead on scene.
The man, who was shot multiple times, is recovering in hospital.
Police are investigating.
