Two die in Great North Road crash
Two people died and five others were injured in a Great North Road accident last night (April 5).
The collision occurred near Louisa Road at around 7pm.
“Netcare 911 paramedics and other services arrived at the scene and found the crumpled remains of two vehicles following a side impact accident,” said Netcare 911 media liaison officer Santi Steinmann.
“Upon assessment of the occupants, paramedics found that a man and woman travelling in the one vehicle tragically lost their lives during the crash.
“From the other vehicle, they found that one person sustained serious injuries and four people sustained moderate injuries during the accident.”
All the injured patients were treated at the scene and transported to hospital for further medical care.
Exact details surrounding the cause of the crash and preceding events are unknown and will remain the subject of a police investigation.
Traffic was obstructed as a result of the accident.
