Pet Rescue needs continued assistance

Pet Rescue, in Putfontein, aims to assist unwanted dogs with a chance at a new life in pre-approved homes.

All the dogs are vaccinated and sterilised before being placed in homes, to stop unwanted litters.

The organisation also offers assistance to families in informal squatter camps, by having their pets vaccinated, dipped and de-wormed and, when funds allow, sterilised.

Interesting news is that the organisation now owns property and they have rebuilt all the camps, so the dogs have gardens in which to run.

They are still planning to renovate to accommodate cats and shade ports are in the process of being built.

With all this being done, they needed to generate a means to raise more funds so they started a charity shop where anything is sold, anything not being used can be donated to this shop for pawning.

The funds raised will help pay vet bills, feed the shelter dogs and cats and help to maintain the shelter, but they are desperate for support.

“All animals deserve the right to live and be loved,” said Fiona Stewart, founder of Pet Rescue.

“Our plan for the future is to save as many innocent lives as possible, to sterilise and educate far and wide.

“For our shelter just to keep improving and making it a home away from a home, where the animals will live like they are at home, reducing stress and fear and instil love forever.”

The shelter situated at 212 Verster Street, also has a number of dogs up for adoption, from puppies to golden oldies who just need a place of love and peace.

They are open seven days a week but on appointment only.

Pet Rescue Charity Shop is situated at 25 Du Randt Road, Putfontein.
