Your St Patrick’s Day destination

There is no better way to spend St Patrick's Day than at an Irish-inspired pub and restaurant, especially the ever-popular McGinty's Northmead Square.

I have frequented the establishment for many years and have yet to have a bad experience.

Friendly staff, delectable food (there is so much to choose from) and enough beer to make a brewery envious, are some of the things which ensure my return over, and over again.

Besides this, it is a safe establishment and provides just enough atmosphere to make you feel like an Irishman on St Patrick’s Day.

McGinty’s will not disappoint on March 17, if it does (which it won’t), I apologise.

The pub will have live entertainment on the day or night (you might find yourself staying longer than you anticipated).

There will also be giveaways on the night.

Just to make sure you won’t be left starving, or thirsty, during the celebrations, Logan and I recently put the pub through its paces.

We were served by Debbie, a friendly and on the ball waitron, who has worked at the pub for two years.

For mains, Logan opted for a delicious 1kg eisbein, chips and two vegetables, too much for him to handle in one sitting.

“Mmmm,” mustered Logan when asked about his meal.

“It was great and it was cooked to perfection in a honey-base sauce.”

I ordered a 500g T-bone steak, cooked to my standards and covered with a lovely BBQ sauce.

The plate also arrived with chips and two vegetables.

The food was outstanding.

If the portions are too big for you, you can choose from many baskets and starters on the menu.

McGinty’s Northmead Square has a Monday night quiz night every week, which starts at 7.15pm. KvdL
