Enhance your growth factors

Let’s face it; none of us welcomes our skin forming wrinkles, starting to thin or revealing any of the textural changes that come with ageing.

The latest in growth factor technology has been proven to stimulate old cells to revert them back to what they were in our youth.

Growth factors act as natural messenger proteins that allow communication between cells in the body and are the control mechanism for all wound healing and cellular repair.

Owner of local beauty salon Face Value, Gail Minott, who specialises in skin care, explained how it works and how it can be obtained.

She said research done by Lamelle Research Laboratories, a biotechnology research company and the first to have launched Nobel Prize winning nano-encapsulated Recombinant Human Growth Factors, proved that topical growth factors in the correct combination are able to strongly signal the skin to remodel and correct itself thereby improving the signs of ageing.

These are 100 per cent homologues to human protein in South Africa.

Gail said due to heat and too much exposure to the sun, skin cells become sluggish and cell division decreases by over 50 per cent when we get older.

Lower levels of growth factors are produced, resulting in the breakdown of collagen.

As a result skin starts to loose moisture and elasticity and produce the physical changes that we are not so fond of.

Gail said growth factors are an enormous help as they are compared to even the most powerful prescription medicines.

Face Value, situated on 18 Long Tom Street, in Rynfield is a stockist of the Lamelle Dermaheal Range.

Along with this Gail suggested for treatments such as peels, microdeedling, mesotherapy and radio frequency, which the salon offers, to be undergone to help skin clear out all broken collagen and elastin, which will add to the efficacy of the products.

“Growth factors used at home act as ‘fertiliser’ for the skin,” said Gail.

“No other topical ingredients can display the effectiveness of growth factors on the skin.”

“They increase collagen in the fraction of the time and with no irritation to the skin due to the fact that they already occur naturally in the skin.”

All products in the range is developed to follow a rigorous programme of review, research and meticulous production.

Gail provided some everyday precautionary measures to follow to help prevent a lack of natural growth factors:

* Stay out of the sun as much as possible and use a good sunscreen daily.

Up to 80 per cent of all aging is caused by sun damage.

* Stop smoking; it asphyxiates (destroys) the skin and produces free radicals that destabilise all your body’s cells, is toxic and interferes with your blood supply to the skin which will compromise the delivery to nutrients to the skin.

* When outdoors, we are exposed to pollutants.

Heat and wind-protect your skin from these elements by using a good skincare regime, wearing protective clothing, taking anti-oxidants and having skin treatments specifically designed to help.
