Arbor Primary to host regular blood drives

In celebration of National Cancer Prevention Month, the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) and Cupcakes for Kids with Cancer held a blood drive on February 12, at Arbor Primary School.

The campaign is aimed at educating and creating awareness of the importance of donating blood.

In September, the SANBS collected 200 units of blood at a Arbor Primary School blood drive.

The school hosted a fund-raiser on February 12, selling cupcakes to help support Cupcakes for Kids with Cancer.

The school has pledged to partner with the blood service to host a blood drive on their premises every 56 days.

SANBS public relations practitioner for the Benoni branch Terrance Pillay encourages other schools to also adopt the drive, because South Africa is currently experiencing a sever blood shortage.

The SANBS encourages people to also register for the platelets programme.
