Learner drivers need more confidence

Anonymous writes by email:

We would appreciate it when the police driving instructors and the private driving instructors teach their learner drivers to drive, they keep them in the police yards and on quiet roads until the learners are confident that they can handle a car.

Too often we drive behind a learner with the teacher next to him or her, and they don’t even know how to pull away from a robot which has turned green.

They also go at a snail’s pace because they are not confident.

Every time we are behind a police learner we have this problem.

The other morning, my husband lost his patience and went past the car at the robot and hooted at them.

I remember when I was learning to drive, my teacher did not let me drive on the road until I was very confident behind the wheel.

They should be taken to the plots where they can learn skills in driving a car.
