Providing women with pregnancy information

If you are a pregnant woman and find yourself with an unplanned pregnancy, Life Choices Pregnancy Crisis Centre is here to help.

The NPO centre is based at the Covenant Life Centre, on Webb Street, in Northmead.

Lauren Jee took over running the centre in August 2013.

“We are a counselling centre for women who find themselves with an unplanned pregnancy.

We give them a different option to abortion, although it is one of the six options that we inform them of when they come through for a consultation,” said Jee, from the centre.

At the moment the centre has three counsellors and all services are free and confidential.

The centre offers information on:

  • Abortion
  • Adoption
  • Parenting
  • Free pregnancy tests
  • Free unplanned pregnancy counselling
  • Practical help

The vision of the centre is to make sure that every woman makes an informed decision about her pregnancy.

“Our mission is to also ensure that no woman makes a decision she will regret later on in life,” said Jee.

The councillors’ attempt to get a holistic view about each client’s life, as this ensures that they are given the best advice for their own situation.

“I recommend that all the women with whom I consult visit a medical practitioner, because we only provide counselling,” she said.

Jee said she keeps contact with clients even after they have completed their consultations.

The centre would welcome donations of toiletries for moms and babies, and nappies of all sizes.

To make an appointment for a consultation, or to make donations, contact Jee on 074 953 9106, or email to lifechoicesbenoni@gmail.com.

The centre’s website is www.lifeshoicesbenoni.co.za.
