Show your support for the Domestic Worker of the Year

Hirsch’s Boksburg has announced the last winner to go through to the final round of its Domestic Worker of the Year competition.

Lucy Matjila, of Farrarmere, is the Domestic Worker of January.

Her employer, Christine Roberts, wrote the winning motivation.

All the finalists of Hirsch’s Benoni Domestic Worker of the Month will be going head-to-head against each other in an Employer and Employee Cook-off Challenge.

The Grand Finale will be held at 10am on February 7, at Hirsch’s Boksburg, at the K90 Centre.

The challenge will consist of the teams (domestic worker and employer) using R50 to make a supper and leftover lunch from the supper they made, for the next day.

A combined score will be given to each team, based on the motivation submitted, combined with their performance at the cook-off to determine the Domestic Worker of the Year.

Members of the public are encouraged to come along to support their favourite team in the challenge.

Hirsch’s public relations officer, Brigitte Thysse, said: “Thank you to everyone who took the time out to write their unforgettable motivations and tell us their stories of their amazing domestic workers,

“The enthusiasm shown in the employers’ entries was absolutely phenomenal,

“All the entries that were received highlighted the respect and appreciation of the service and work that domestic workers provide for us each and every day.”

Christine Roberts’ motivation read: “Our family life has a clear distinction of life BL (Before Lucy) and AL (After Lucy)… smile! Lucy Matjila is a wonderful woman, warm and wise.”
