Netcare 911 spokeswoman Santi Steinmann said a motorcycle and motor vehicle were involved in the accident.
Paramedics and other services arrived at the scene and found a motorcyclist lying in the middle of the intersection of Pretoria Road and Struben Street.
“Upon assessment of the 37-year-old man they found that he had sustained serious injuries,” said Steinmann.
“The man was treated on scene and transported to hospital for further medical care.”
Steinmann said the driver of the motor vehicle was not injured.
Exact detail surrounding the cause of the accident and preceding events will be investigated.
