Bringing Christmas to the less fortunate

Christmas came to life for many struggling families with over 400 kilograms of excellent quality fruit and vegetables that were donated to various local charities by the Pick n Pay Longmeadow Distribution Centre.

The food was distributed by Sinomsebenzi, along with Operation Anti-Freeze on Friday, December 12.

The majority of the food went to Project Feed the Children, which feeds over 40 000 hungry people every month as well as the Salvation Army.

The rest went to Ithemba Rape and Trauma Support Centre.

Nora’s Crèche, in Barcelona, also benefited as well as a number of families who, without this contribution of food, would have gone hungry this Christmas.

Hilary Carhart from Operation Anti-Freeze said: “It was so exciting to be able to hand out much needed food to those in need at a time when they often struggle the most.”
