Community intent on ridding conservancy of litter

Sunday's wet weather did not hinder a group of people from picking up litter at the Korsman Bird Sanctuary.

Members of the public were dressed for the rain and were eager to rid the area of litter, most of which enters the enclosure through storm water drains and from people who throw it over the perimeter fence.

The Korsman Conservancy’s chairperson, Jane Trembath, said the public enjoys the space but few are willing to keep it clean.

Members of Saber Tactical also assisted with the clean up.

The security company have also sponsored signs asking people to refrain from littering, drinking at the sanctuary, walking dogs without a leash and asking people to pick up after their dogs.

Anyone who would like to assist in the next litter pick up may contact Trembath on 011 421 7418 or 082 690 2832.
