Unlawful medication worth R80 000 seized, man arrested

A 25-year-old man was arrested in Rynfield this afternoon (November 26) for the possession of unlawful substances worth an estimated street value of R80 000.

The Pretoria K9 Unit, which worked with Specialised Security Services and the police’s criminal intelligence head office, swooped on the Ewing Street home at 1pm.

They arrested the man in a flat he occupies at the back of his parents’ home.

They found the suspect in possession of unlawful substances including Schedule Six sleeping pills, fat burners and steroids.

Gauteng SAPS provincial spokesperson Capt Pinky Tsinyane said the items are in the country illegally.

She said police believe the suspect delivered the items directly to his clients.

The man will be charged with the unlawful possession of unscheduled imported medicine and dealing in steroids and scheduled medication.

He will be detained at the Benoni Police Station and is expected to appear in court soon.
