SPCA Charity shop up and running again

The Benoni SPCA Charity Shop is operating at full force again, following a month of being closed to the public.

The shop, which is situated on the SPCA premises at 3 Klein Street, in Lakefield, was closed for renovation during September and its neat new look can now be enjoyed by community members.

It is under new management of Robin Turner, who has plenty of volunteers assisting him.

Volunteer Val Taylor said the whole shop was cleared out, cleaned, restructured and divided into sections of items relating to one another.

There is a room for books, one for men’s clothes, T-shirts and linen, a room for women’s and children’s clothing, one for kitchenware and ornaments and one for what Taylor referred to as the “odds and sods” room which contains items like golf clubs, tennis rackets and puzzles.

Members of the public are welcome to come do some shopping, in aid of the work done by the Benoni SPCA, and are encouraged to donate any items that you do not use anymore to the shop.

Taylor said they also have plans in the pipeline to open a tea garden at the premises.

The public can donate any garden furniture and other items that might benefit the initiative to the SPCA.

The shop is open from Mondays to Fridays from 9am till 2pm and on Saturdays from 9am till noon.

The SPCA will hold an open day this Saturday, November 1, during which the shop will stay open until 2pm.
