Two die in separate accidents
Two people died in two separate accidents on Sunday evening.
A man in his 40s died in a collision on Main Reef Road, just before the circle leading into Brakpan.
The deceased, the driver of a light motor vehicle, had his wife and two children, aged 14 and seven, in the car.
ER24 JHB East spokesperson Glen Orritt said the car in which the family was travelling was involved in a head-on collision with another light motor vehicle.
The deceased’s wife sustained serious injuries.
The 14-year-old girl was seriously injured, with the seven-year-old girl sustaining moderate injuries.
All three patients were transported to hospital.
In another accident, a woman in her 20s died at the intersection of Mercury Street and Atlas Road.
Orritt said the woman was travelling with her sister when the accident occurred at midnight.
The driver of the car was declared dead, and her sister was moderately injured.
The only occupant of the second car was moderately injured.
