Sonja Herholdt does her bit on Heritage Day

South African singer, songwriter and actress Sonja Herholdt performed at the Manger Care Centre's Heritage Day fund-raiser, on September 24.

Herholdt entertained guests through music, motivation and inspiration – all free of charge.

The Manger Care Centre (a non-profit organisation) hosted the event to raise much-needed money to replace a damaged boiler at their Eden home.

The boiler was damaged about a year ago, by the severe hail.

Since then, the 150 residents who are reliant on the boiler for warm water, have been severely inconvenienced.

The affected parties have had to be carted to different premises for them to be able to bathe daily.

Eden accommodates abused mothers, children, families and single men and women who are destitute.

The Manger Care Centre creates an environment for post-rehabilitation and re-integration for recovering addicts at Eden.

Manger Care Centre fund-raiser John Williams said about R32 000 is needed to replace the system.

Anyone who would like to donate money to The Manger may contact Williams on 011 747 8700, or email to him at john.williams@mangercare.co.za.
