A successful season for Laerskool Rynfield drummies so far

The Laerskool Rynfield drum majorettes have had a very successful 2014 season.

The team, ably led by Danica Hough and Chante Cooks, and trained by Babsie Pienaar, Celia Opperman, Tina du Plessis and Anneli Pruis, has won all sections they competed in at the league competitions held under the auspices of the Gauteng Provincial Majorette Association, which is affiliated to the South African Drum Majorette Association.

In addition, the team consisting of 36 primary school girls, won the Gauteng Provincial Championships and were crowned as the Gauteng Champion of Champions in the Primary Majorette section at the provincial competition held in Brakpan recently.

On top of these achievements, four members of the team were awarded their Protea colours and represented South Africa during August in Croatia, where more than 19 countries competed.

The Protea team was also trained by a Rynfield coach, Celia Opperman.

This team was awarded two gold medals and one silver medal during these world championships.

The team is now busy with preparations for the National Championships to be held in Cape Town during the first week of October.

The team is looking forward to proving that Rynfield Drummies are definitely amongst the best in the country.

Any primary school girls interested in joining the winning team are more than welcome.
