Businessman is killed while responding to alarm

A local businessman was shot dead at his business premises, on the night of September 21.

According to the police, Zafrulla Bham, owner of Midas Motor Spares, in Ampthill Avenue, was responding to an alarm activation at his store when the incident occurred.

Benoni SAPS spokesperson Lieut Nomsa Sekele said the 43-year-old businessman was shot once in the upper body.

He was also found with his hands tied with a cable.

Sekele said Bham’s son went to check up on his father when he did not return from the store after responding to an alarm activation.

Upon arriving at the store, he found his father’s car parked outside and the front door of the shop open.

He proceeded to one of the rooms in the store, where he found his bleeding father.

Sekele said paramedics were called to the scene and certified him dead on arrival.

“Nothing was taken from the store and the motive for the murder is not yet known,” said Sekele.

No one has been arrested and the police are investigating a case of murder.

Bham’s funeral is due to be held this afternoon (September 22).
