Join pick up day and help keep Ekurhuleni clean

The Ekurhuleni Environmental Forum invites Benoni residents to Environmental Litter Pick-up Day, on Saturday, September 20.

Participating residents should meet at the Benoni Junction Shopping Centre/BP Garage, on Tom Jones Street and Bunyan Street.

The areas that will be cleaned include the ground around the freeway off-ramp.

‘The aim of this clean up drive is to clear the area around Lakeside Mall, which are affected by illegal dumping.

“And, also, to educate community members about the importance of keeping the area clean,” said Ekurhuleni spokesperson Themba Gadebe.

As the city has been named the Greenest City in the province, Gadebe says the accolade can only be attributed to activities such as the litter pick day, which are initiated by residents who understand that a cleaner, greener Ekurhuleni starts with them.
