Anti-drowning campaign will attract hundreds

Rynfield-based Making Waves Swim School will, for the first time, be involved with South Africa's largest swimming lesson and anti-drowning campaign.

The event will be held at Wild Waters, in Boksburg, on September 27.

The Baby Angels in Heaven event, organised by the NPO Seth Foundation, will attract close to a 1 000 people.

Attendees will be educated on CPR by Netcare and there will also be fire safety tips.

In addition, Making Waves Swim School, Swim Dynamics Instructor Training and Tigger Tigers Swim School will offer swimming lessons and demonstrations.

Afterwards, a a memorial will be held for those lost to drownings and a foam party will commence for the children, on the grass.

The Seth Foundation was founded by Nicole Vermaak, whose child drowned in a rain-filled swimming pool, in Kempton Park, in 2011.

The foundation was established a year after the toddler’s death.

The event will run from 10am to 5pm.

There is an entrance fee of R50 for adults and under 18s get in free.

Proceeds will be used for projects identified by the Seth Foundation.
