Benoni Carnival postponed

The Benoni Carnival that was due to be held on September 27, has been postponed until next year.

Benoni CPF executive chairperson Reza Patel said the decision to postpone the event was taken due to the South African National Defence Force not confirming their attendance by letter.

Patel said the Defence Force was to be one of the biggest attractions at the carnival.

He said the CPF envisages a bigger carnival in future and is in talks with Ekurhuleni to make next year’s carnival an event for the entire East Rand, possibly longer than a day.

The CPF is still in discussion with Ekurhuleni to host the carnival at Willowmoore Park, in the second half of next year.

The Benoni Carnival is a fund-raiser for the CPF and some of next year’s proceeds will go towards local NPOs and NGOs.
