The business, in Dewald Hattingh Road, had just closed its doors to customers at around 1pm and staff members were busy cashing up when two men, wearing a uniform similar to that of the staff, emerged from inside the wholesaler.
Police spokesperson Lieut Nomsa Sekele said all the staff members and management were surprised, because they did not recognise the men.
“The two men immediately produced firearms and ordered everybody to an office where the safe is kept,” said Sekele.
They removed all the money from the safe and proceeded to empty all the tills.
Sekele said all the staff members were tied up, no shots were fired and no injuries were reported.
The men were captured on the store’s CCTV cameras.
Sekele added that a staff member suspected to have colluded with the suspects has been arrested.
