John Wesley gymnasts rake in 10 medals

John Wesley Community Centre gymnasts obtained seven gold and three silver medals at the Indo Pacific Gymnastics Championships South Africa.

The championships took place in July, and the gymnasts competed against countries such as Australia, Canada, Namibia and New Zealand.

“We are so proud of the John Wesley Community Centre gymnasts; nine children participated in the acrobatics gymnastic discipline and they have been training with Adri Koekemoer, Trevor Lubisi and Armand Koekemoer as their coaches from Belvedere Primary School, and their work, discipline and effort have definitely showed,” said Lisa Johnstone, from Northfield Methodist Church.

The John Wesley Community Centre is Northfield Methodist Church’s main outreach project.

The centre is a registered non-profit and public benefit organisation that provides assistance, creates hope and develops the potential of vulnerable children and families infected and affected by HIV/Aids, in Etwatwa.

“We say thank you to the coaches and supporters for the financial and moral support, and for helping to turn this dream into what it has become,” said Johnstone.
