Ekurhuleni embarks on a road show to educate service providers on its procurement process

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality is undergoing a process to transform its accounts administration processes.

Metro spokesman Themba Radebe said the finance department will embark on a road show to ensure that service providers are brought on board with changes.

All current and prospective service providers are invited to attend one of three road shows which will be held at the Springs Civic Centre, Alberton Civic Centre and the Germiston City Hall in the coming weeks.

The meetings are aimed at clarifying the municipality’s procurement processes and also explaining any changes that have been implemented in recent months in order to increase compliance with legislation and improve the way in which we manage our service providers’ accounts,” said Gadebe.

One of the changes to be implemented is a move from payment on date of invoice to payment on date of statement.

“This will give the municipality enough time to reconcile accounts of service providers as well as to collect outstanding invoices from various departments and central procuring offices.

“As a municipality, we would like to explain to our contractors our plans to resolve the challenges we are currently facing and how they can assist us with this process,” concluded Gadebe.

The dates are as follows:

  •  Alberton Civic Centre, Main Hall
