Rifles stolen in house robbery, maid abducted

A domestic worker has been abducted following a house robbery in Morehill, this morning (July 16).

Police said two men armed with a firearm entered a property in Carina Street at around 10am, and tied up the woman who owns the house.

It is believed that hunting rifles and knives were stolen from the safe, but police spokesman Lieut Nomsa Sekele was unable to confirm this, as the suspects locked the safe and left with the key after the robbery.

“We were informed that there were firearms in the safe, but we can’t confirm if they were stolen as the safe is now locked,” she said.

Sekele confirmed that hunting knives were stolen.

After the robbery the suspects abducted the domestic worker and she has not been found.

Sekele said It is not known how the suspects left from the scene.

Police are investigating.
