Benoni CPF intelligence leads to hijacked goods

The Benoni Community Police Forum (CPF) has been praised for leading the police to stolen goods worth thousands of rand, on July 28.

Benoni police spokesperson Lieut Nomsa Sekele said the goods are suspected to have been stolen from hijacked trucks.

“A tip-off led the police to a storage facility in Prince’s Avenue, where the goods were recovered and confiscated,” said Sekele.

Upon arrival, police found two Ethiopian men who could not account for the goods that were stored in three rooms.

“They were arrested after they failed to produce papers indicating where the goods where going to or coming from,” said Sekele.

She added that the station commander, Brig Poobalan Subbiah, would like to thank the CPF for their intelligence in this matter, and RTT Anti-hijacking for their involvement.

The confiscated goods include several boxes containing liquor and groceries.

The men are expected to appear soon in the Benoni Magistrates Court.
