One arrested, four flee

Police seek owner of stolen property

One man was arrested and four others escaped after being stopped in a stop-and-search operation, at the Etwatwa off-ramp, off the N12, on Monday (June 2).

Daveyton SAPS media liaison officer Capt Alfred Nakana said police stopped the car only to have four of the occupants run away.

The driver was arrested.

Police found suspected stolen items in the car, including a plasma TV, a video camera, three tyres, groceries and a ”whole wardrobe” of men’s clothing.

Police discovered the name ”Rudy Mes” on the clothing items.

Nakana encouraged Mes, or anyone who might know him, to contact him on 079 695 1401, or the station on 011 845 9800, to identify and claim the items.

A case of being in possession of suspected stolen property was opened against the suspect.
