Conman crooks man at police car pound

The Benoni police are looking for the man in the identikit.

He allegedly conned a man out of R7 600, after promising to sell him his 10-ton truck, which, he claimed, was at the Van Ryn Deep police car pound, in Mackenzie Park.

The incident occurred on October 13, last year.

Police spokesperson Lieut Nomsa Sekele said the suspect picked up the victim in an white VW Golf 4 and drove to the pound.

They parked at the gate and the suspect went inside.

“After a few minutes he returned to the car and told the suspect to come with him,” said Sekele.

Sekele said suspect also told the victim to give him the deposit.

Once the two were inside the suspect said he had forgotten something in the car and left to fetch it.

He then drove away without anyone noticing, and that was the last time he was seen.
