Dare to have fabulous hair

We all love going on holiday, but we can't always jump into our cars and head to the coast. Fortunately, we can have alternative adventures, like changing our looks, because, after all, the saying goes, "change is as good as a holiday".

The City Times recently paid a visit to the fabulous La Coupe hair design studio, at 109 Pretoria Road, where a local dancer, who’s set to hit the international stage soon, was dolled up with a sassy new look to suit her adventure.

Lejeanne Qsack, from Farrarmere, who left to perform in Turkey the following day, was a fun “canvas” on which stylist and owner Marc Sweeck demonstrated his art form after receiving the go-ahead to be spontaneously creative with her hair.

Marc trimmed her hair, which was a medium length before, into a trendy short style.

He shaved one side of her head, leading down to the lower back of her scalp, and left some length to the rest of her hair, after trimming it in a pixie-like style.

He also coloured her hair a rich dark brown, mixed it up with a reddish toner and added red streaks, which resulted in a vibrant colour blend.

Marc described this style as “modern, funky and easy to manage”.

“Lejeanne can also have fun with it when she goes out at night,” he said.

He added that this style will stay in fashion, even if it has grown out at a later stage.

Marc emphasised the importance of his styling policy, that all styles created must have class.

“Whether it is a messy or modern style, it has to look classy,” he said.

The salon also happily provides more traditional hairstyles.

Marc said he listens to what his clients want, but also makes suggestions as to what would best suit their features.

“I am known for being honest with clients; I won’t start doing a hairstyle until we both agree on it,” he explained.

“Bone structure, colour and the texture of hair are the most important factors to consider when creating a hairstyle.”

The passionate stylist said he sees his clients as his own family members and does what he does because he values making people feel good about themselves.

He advised that Lejueanne’s style has the best effect with straight hair.

To people who long to try out a fresh new style such as this one, but are afraid of the change, Mark encouraged going for it.

“As hair in this style grows out, it develops into a different style,” he said.

For the final touch, beauty therapist Lianne Mayhew, from the extended beauty salon, that also offers a range of beauty treatments, did Lejeanne’s make-up, using neutral colours that enhanced her natural beauty.

Lejeanne left looking trendy, elegant and beautiful in her new, modern woman look.

“I love it!” she said.

Create your own adventure to a modern, spontaneous new you, with a fabulous new hairstyle.
