Mixed feelings about organisation at voting stations this morning

There have been mixed reactions to the organisation at polling stations this morning.

Michael Marshall, who was in a queue at the John Barrable Hall for an hour and a half this morning, said he was frustrated with the long queues at that voting station.

He said the elderly were allowed to skip the queue which delayed the voting process for everyone else.

Marshall agrees that the elderly should skip the queue, but he said the organisation of it was poor.

He suggested a separate entrance for the elderly.

There have also been reports of delays in voting stations opening at the music academy on Putfontein Road; no ballot papers at the Baptist Church in Wordsworth Street; broken scanners at Belvedere School and apparently only one ballot box at Kathstan College.

Other people said the process had been smooth.

”The voting station at Rynfield Dam is moving along nicely,” said Jenna Stewart.

”Well done!”

”The Benoni City Hall – they were very good and well organised – thanks to them,” said Denise Koekemoer.
