On April 29, in the afternoon, the thug entered the cartridges shop on the first floor and stole undisclosed amount of money.
“He then ran to the toilet on the same floor, and locked himself in,” said Northmead Square centre manager Stelio Coutsides.
The man then broke the toilet window and jumped out, but security gave chase and caught him.
He injured his hand when he broke the window.
The stolen money has not been recovered and the man was taken away in a the police van.
He will face malicious damage to property and theft charges.
Benoni police spokesperson Lieut Nomsa Sekele confirmed the charges and said the man will appear soon in the Benoni Magistrates Court.
