What to do at the ballot box

Millions of people are expected to vote in the May 7 general elections.

To make sure your vote counts, heed the following points:

  •  Make a mark in the box next to the party name you wish to vote for
  •  Ensure your mark does not go over the boundaries of the box you make your mark in
  •  Make one mark on the ballot (the best mark to make is a “X”
  •  You can make any mark on your ballot, as long as it is clear who you are voting for
  •  If you make a mistake on your ballot, inform a voting official. They will cancel your ballot and provide you with a new one
  •  Once you have voted, fold the paper in half, ensuring no one sees who you voted for. The voting official will stamp the ballot at the back.

Then, place your provincial and national ballot in the correct voting box
