Soccer star gives back

Bloemfontein Celtic player, Musa Nyatama, gave back to Enkangala Primary School in Daveyton, where his sporting career began.

Maseda Ratshikuni, head of marketing at Nedbank, said that with the Nedbank Goals4Goals partnership with Sports Trust, the top goal scorer in every round of the 2014 Nedbank Cup tournament received soccer kit and training equipment worth R10 000, for a school of their choice.

As the top goal scorer, Musa Nyatama recently chose to donate the kit and equipment to Enkangala Primary, where he attended until 1996.

“The school currently has three soccer divisions, u-11, u-12 and u-13,” said school principal, Francina Tstotesti.

“The groups have a reputation for beating other teams during the local junior leagues, but they have to share one set of soccer kit.”

Tstotesti said the soccer kit handover will make a difference to the school.

“The kits will have a huge impact on the learners, boosting their morale and self confidence, by encouraging them to pursue their goals with dedication,” said Tstotesti.

Nyatama said he chose the school because that’s where his schooling took place, but also where his love for soccer began.

“Back in those days we did have a soccer kit, but all the divisions used it,” said Nyatama.

“We often had to wait for the others to finish playing, before we could take our turn.”

The learners were all smiles as Nyatama interacted with them, and demonstrated his ball skills.
