Woman raped in front of husband

Police are still searching for four men - three of whom raped a woman in front of her husband, at a Northvilla home in the early hours on Sunday morning (April 6).

The victim was sleeping next to her husband (51) when she was awakened by a light in her bedroom, just after midnight, on the Sunday morning.

“According to the complainant, the couple was asleep and the wife woke up her husband after she saw a light on and somebody in the bedroom,” said Benoni SAPS media liaison officer Lieut Nomsa Sekele.

The men apparently gained entry to the property by lifting the electric fence.

Sekele said the robbers then broke open burglar bars at a lounge window and entered through the window, which was open.

Sekele said when the couple woke up the man in the room pointed a firearm at them.

Shortly after this, three more men entered the room.

The three men tied up the husband, demanding money and threatening the rape the woman if she did not show them where the money was kept.

The men then tied up the woman and raped her in front of her husband.

“The man (husband) tried to stop them and they said they would ‘kill him if he did not shut up’,” said Sekele.

The men fled the home with three laptops and cellphones.

Sekele said the woman has been discharged from hospital.

A case of robbery and rape has been opened.
