Luxurious relaxation; the essence of beauty

Imagine closing your eyes while soaking in warm water in an outdoor environment, with the gorgeous surroundings of trees and butterflies, flowers and the sound of birds chirping, complemented by the sound of a soothing water-fountain.

This fairytale scenario is what can be expected in the methyl sulfonyl methane (MSM) signature spa package, at Acapilia Laser Salon and Day Spa, at 123 Honiball Street, in Rynfield, owned by Debbie Diehl.

I’m not sure how many women feel the same way, but in my case I can be dressed in the best clothes and stand tall in the prettiest heels, but if I do not feel good, I will not feel beautiful.

I can confidently say this treatment succeeds in bringing about this feeling.

The package includes a bath soak or jacuzzi in MSM, a scrub or wrap, and a back, neck and shoulders massage.

MSM is one of nature’s richest sources of natural sulphur, which is found in the tissue of all plants and animals.

It is the fourth most abundant mineral in the human body and has many beneficial purposes.

For starters, it allows more oxygen into your body and removes toxins.

“Everyone has a high toxicity rate, because of environmental and nutritional aspects,” said manager and therapist of Acapilia, Shereen Poulton.

“By soaking in MSM, you are unlikely to get headaches, as with a normal detox.”

Debbie added that it does not counteract any medication.

It also repairs and replaces damaged tissue, reducing inflammation, improving circulation, skin problems and premature ageing.

I spent half an hour in a bubbly, hot jacuzzi, forgetting every single worry in the world.

The 99 per cent pure MSM also acts as a healing soak that eliminates joint and muscular pain.

After this I was scrubbed and enclosed in a plastic wrap by therapist Olga Madonsela, who made sure I was comfortable all the time.

This was so wonderful and relaxing and, along with an arrangement of scented candles and peaceful music, I almost fell asleep.

After I cleaned up, therapist Elizabeth Ngema gave me a back, neck and shoulder massage that made me feel like royalty.

This was “magical.”

The spa, is very conscious of time-management and encourages its clients to arrive 15 minutes prior to their treatment, to get into the spirit of the peaceful surroundings, and fill in a client card for the therapists to tailor the treatments to their personal and health needs.

Shereen advised me on a few lifestyle-changes I could make to improve on my nutritional shortcomings and gain more energy.

“We work holistically,” said Debbie.

“We want you to feel good — we want you to look good; it doesn’t help you just feel good for the day,” Shereen emphasised.

A picnic basket, to which I was treated after my treatments, can be booked additionally This includes fruit, assorted biscuits, cheeses, champagne, fruit juices or wine and, most importantly, chocolate!

The spa offers a range of other treatments, including facial and laser treatments, massages, tattoo removal and IPL treatments, amongst others.

They also have a variety of 12 spa packages on offer. The Bride and bridesmaids-to-be, Moms-to-be, Coco chocolate, and Gents spa packages were some of the creative offerings that caught my attention.

I left the spa feeling radiant, valued and relaxed, which I think every woman deserves.

I made a decision to treat myself to a spa treatment each month from now on, instead of buying new clothes and shoes, and would encourage anyone to do the same.

The therapists were all friendly and professional and the spa environment luxurious and peaceful, which made it an overall treat.
