Bakkie lands on its side

One person was injured when the bakkie in which he was travelling collided with another bakkie, on Monday afternoon (March 24).

The accident happened just after 1pm, on Tom Jones Street, at the Mowbray Avenue intersection.

The accident caused one of the bakkies to overturn and land on its side.

“Paramedics were ushered to the vehicle and found the driver and only occupant of the vehicle, a man in his 20s, still inside,” said ER24 JHB East spokesperson Glen Orritt.

“He was immediately assessed and found to have suffered neck, back and chest injuries, but remained in a stable condition.”

The man was stabilised on scene and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The driver of the second bakkie was not injured in the collision.

Local authorities will investigate the accident.
