Mayor gives green light to housing project

Ekurhuleni mayor Clr Mondli Gungubele has given a green light for the development of 334, 40m houses to benefit the community of Khom Bhiza informal settlement, in Etwatwa.

The mayor invited Khom Bhiza residents, who are the beneficiaries of this development, to view three show houses in order to decide on the design of their choice.

The houses are built with three distinct designs.

According to Gungubele, it was important to meet with the residents before the roll out of construction, since the informal settlement was mentioned as a priority during the recent mayoral Imbizo in the area.

“I do appeal to residents to be patient, as only 182 units will be completed for the 2013/2014 financial year, which ends in June,” Gungubele said.

The housing development, boasts an average yard size of 180sq m, and insulated ceilings, which keep warm in winter and cool in summer.

The houses further boast an 800mm concrete apron around the house to channel rainwater down pipes.
