Man resuscitated on Great North

Paramedics resuscitated a man who was flung out of a vehicle following an accident on the corner of Great North Road and Ensign Avenue on Saturday.

Two vehicles collided at the intersection at around 3pm.

“Bystanders on scene ushered paramedics to a man, in his 30s, who was lying in the road,” said ER24 JHB East spokesperson Glen Orritt.

“Immediately paramedics assessed the man and found that he was not breathing and had no pulse.

“CPR was initiated and a short while later the man began breathing on his own and had a heart rate.”

The man also sustained a serious head injury and was stabilised on scene before being transported to hospital in a serious condition.

The driver of the second vehicle sustained no visible injuries and was transported to hospital for observation.

Local authorities were on scene to investigate the cause of the accident.
