The incident occurred along the stretch of road from Benoni towards Mckenzie Park, on January 22, at around 11am.
“She was approached by a man who was armed with a knife,” said Sekele.
Apparently, the man threatened to knife her if she tried to scream.
“The woman was holding her cellphone and she tried to press the dial button, but the thug noticed and grabbed it from her,” said Sekele.
The two tussled and the woman was stabbed in the stomach in the process.
“The thug ran away and the woman was rescued by people who heard her scream,” said Sekele.
She was transported to hospital, where she lost her baby.
However, Sekele said, the foetus did not have any stab wounds.
The police are investigating an attempted murder case.
