Benoni constituency MP has died

Member of Parliament Crosby Moni, who represented the constituency of Benoni, died on Sunday, December 23, after a short illness.

Moni, an ANC MP, joined Parliament in 2011.

He was a former deputy president of the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM), a member of the SA Communist Party’s central committee, provincial deputy chairman of the African National Congress in Mpumalanga, and was instrumental in rebuilding SA National Civic Organisation structures.

In Parliament, he served in the portfolio committees of both basic and higher education.

ANC Parliamentary spokesperson Moloto Mothapo says Moni was a disciplined cadre and passionate community activist.

“The ANC will sorely miss his participation.”

Moni, who lived in Boksburg, is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters.

He was buried this past weekend.
