A healthy new you

If you value maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle, you will love this ...

My colleague and I spent an afternoon at The Sacred Touch Health and Wellness Centre, having a look at what the establishment has to offer Benoni residents.

We were introduced to the three wellness practitioners from the centre who each performed a treatment on us from their individual disciplines.

“We are set to provide wellness through a healthy balance of the body, mind and spirit, that results in an overall feeling of well-being,” said Hansa Bhika.

Chiropractor Dr Sunil Rama, homoeopathic doctor Dr Jyoti Bhika and therapeutic reflexologist, Hansa Bhika, were all very friendly and helpful.

Rama performed a spinal evaluation on my colleague, Deidré Ruiters, and checked her reflexes as she often experienced discomfort in her lower back.

Chiropractor Sunil Rama assess the reflexes of Deidré Ruiters, from the Benoni City Times.

He established that it was her left Sacroiliac joint causing her aches and performed a chiropractic treatment, moving the joint back into place within seconds.

“Spinal manipulation is what I do,” he explained.

“This is a structural change; there is no way medication will be able to fix it.”

“That feels much better; it feels like it is a much easier movement now,” said Deidré.

Jyoti’s profession includes making up herbal and homoeopathic medication and homoeopathic injection treatments, called “Biopuncture”.

“We do not do antibiotics or pain-killers. For the long term, the results of homoeopathic medications are much better, as they solve the problem from the root, without any side-effects,” she explained.

She then demonstrated the Quantum Resonance Analyser machine on me.

This scans and analyzes 39 body systems by picking up the frequency of electromagnetic waves.

I simply held a sensor device connected to the machine in my palm for one minute, after which my health status was obtained on the database from which Bhika could explain and make recommendations in regard to the imbalances in my body.

I was amazed by the prompt and accurate results that this machine had accumulated.

“It is much easier and less expensive than directly going for blood tests,” said Bhika.

“This machine helps to identify organs which are not functioning optimally.

“If I find a problematic area of concern, I will refer my patients for further blood tests and investigations.”

Reflexologist Hansa Bhika then performed a reflexology treatment on Deidré.

This involved applying specific thumb, finger and hand techniques to her feet.

“There are reflex points on the feet that represent the entire body,” said Hansa.

These points are said to correspond with the body’s organs and, by stimulating them, the flow of energy is invigorated.

This reduces stress, improves circulation, cleanses the body of toxins, revitalises energy and reduces aches and pains, amongst other benefits.

Reflexology can also be performed on the hands, ears and other parts of the body, stimulating them with specific pressure techniques.

The treatment also works on meridians situated throughout the body.

Hansa ended the session by working deep within the pressure points with massaging cream.

“I feel so relaxed,” said Deidré after this treatment.

“We have even had wonderful results with infertility; we get women who are trying to get pregnant in a state of relaxation and then work on the pressure points connected to the reproductive organs and other endocrine organs” said Hansa.

The centre’s health shop stocks a large variety of products, including vitamins, minerals, gluten-free products, vegan products, herbal and homoeopathic products.

“Our aim with the centre is to be a holistic, natural and optimal healthcare one-stop,” said Sunil.
