Rape case is being investigated

The case of an Actonville a medical practitioner accused of raping a patient has been sent back to the organised crime unit for further investigation.

Benoni Magistrates Court senior prosecutor December Mthimunye confirmed the suspect has appeared in court, but that the matter was never placed on a court roll.

This, Mthimunye said, does not mean the suspect has been discharged or acquitted.

Actonville police spokesman Capt Mack Mngomezulu said the investigators are awaiting a report from the doctor who examined the victim after the alleged rape, before taking the matter back to court.
