Lions peace poster awards ceremony

The Zone Six Lions Peace Poster Awards function was held at St Francis College on Saturday, October 5.

The overall winners on the day was Leonard Sitoe, from John Wesley Community Centre, who R2 000 for his first place finish.

Matthew Sonnenberger, from Curro Serengeti, won R1 500 for second place and Ansofi Pretorius from Veritas College, who won a R1000 cash prize for a third place finish.

Pupils from 24 different schools entered the zone six entries, in the competition which is a Lions international project sponsored by Lions clubs international.

The top two winners from each school were invited to attend the awards ceremony, and received certificates for their efforts.

The posters were judged on their impact, whether they adhered to the theme of Our World, Our Future, were not too cluttered and whether the entire poster was utilised.

Winners from each school will progress to the next round of adjudication.

The winners will now compete at the district level.

The winner at that level will then compete at the multiple district level, where after that winner will compete at the international level.
